Following medical school at IUMC, I interned at the Orange County Medical Center, Irvine, CA.  Subsequently, I served two years as an Army flight surgeon in Viet Nam; Hunter Army Air Base, Savannah, Georgia; and The Presidio, San Francisco.  I completed my specialty training in OB-GYN at the Stanford University and UCLA Medical Centers and then began practice in La Jolla, CA in 1975 where I delivered 4,000 babies over the next 25 years.  In 2000, I joined the IGO Medical Group and limited my practice to gynecology and fertility including IVF.  I continue to practice full-time.

I married Nancy Cherney in 1973; she is a faculty member at San Diego State University where she has taught in the School of Nursing for 25 years.  Our son, Jonathan, was born in 1975; my daughter, Courtney, in 1978.  They graduated from Stanford University and both were fortunate to be members of NCAA championship swimming teams.  They received MBAs from Harvard and the London Business School respectively.  After extensive overseas experiences, they both reside in Santa Monica where Jonathan does real estate investing and Courtney works for YouTube from their Beverly Hills office.

I have much appreciated the ongoing contact with Chuck Reeck, Bill Butz, and Mary Enos who have been extraordinarily generous in their friendship.  Bill attended my son's wedding several years ago in Sea Island, Georgia and his presence was one of the event's highlights for my entire family.

As noted by other classmates, I also feel blessed to have been raised and attended school in West Lafayette.  I cannot imagine a more wonderful educational childhood than what we were offered from Morton School through WLHS.  As I read our class's experiences and accomplishments, I am always inspired.  Were I to have the wherewithal, I would reassemble the Dance Band for a month of practice sessions (including the vocalists: Phil, Marsha, and Mary) and refit Morton into a proper charter school so that another generation of students could be as fortunate as we.
