2021
Sitting here watching birds darting to the feeder between the rains stirred up by "Fred", the tropical storm, I'm wishing that this COVID isolation could be over and that I could travel to WL next month to be with all of you who are free to venture out. Regrettably, Florida officials have made decisions that now keep the prudent at home.
Quick updates: Jack and I have lived in Florida since 1990, first Ft. Lauderdale and then, Tampa in 1993. Our Daughter, husband and 2 grandsons are in Toronto, Canada and our son with his son and daughter live near us in Tampa.
I retired from teaching Art at Tampa Preparatory School in 2013, and Jack and I both retired from teaching Art at The University of Tampa, Spring of 2019. We moved to a home in the "country" in 2014 where we built a big metal building which houses Wood, Sculpture & Ceramic studios. We also have a pond that attracts wildlife and lots of space for me to plant native trees, raise butterflies and watch birds.
We have been avid travelers for four decades and for several years had relaxed for at least a month in Croatia and Venice, Italy. We look forward to returning next May. To relax we enjoy sailing in Tampa Bay and sometime venture out under the skyway bridge. I also stay active sailing (racing) prams with a ladies sailing group.
I eagerly look forward to our Zoom party which I hear will take place on the last morning of the reunion. I hope to see so many of you, classmates on screen.
In the Kayak Family Picture above, I'm the one on the far right, my 75th birthday, Kudjoe Key, FL.
Previous Update:
Jack and I are eager to join you
for my 50th WL reunion.
We are taking leave from teaching, just missing one Friday. It occurred to
me that there may be very few of you who are still working full time. We
are looking forward to retirement in a year or two, but we are in the
process of building an art studio to be able to continue making art.
Jack is a sculptor and professor at the University of Tampa. I teach just
one class at UT and continue as a full time Art instructor at Tampa
Preparatory School. Ceramics is still my main endeavor for teaching and
creating; yet, I still enjoy watercolor painting, and I teach everything
high school students need for art education.
Just last year I joined Jack in his passion for casting iron. I work from
a clay image, to wax, and then to a mold. I stand aside and photograph the
experts pouring molds.
Children and grandchildren are:
Kristin and Chris Prillo and their sons Joe, 15, and Anthony, 17, of
Toronto, Canada.
Gregory Ogle and his children Caroline, 5, and William, 7 of Tampa, FL
