update 2014

Christopher Owens  1943 to August 2014

It is with great sadness that I advise the WLHS of the demise of Christopher Owens. The message below says it all.

Sincerely,

Tom Jones

Today is our second year without Christopher Owens. I am very sad and sorry to tell you this via FB, but Chris passed away in August 2014. My husband and I were good friends of his (he was actually the co-best man at our wedding), and we were thinking about him today on his birthday. When I saw people's kind wishes I felt like you should know. I did not know if his brother had informed people, but after talking with him, I realize that Denny couldn't possibly know all the people who knew and cared about Chris. I am so sorry. Denny (Chris's brother) and his wife had a private ceremony and scattered some of Chris's ashes in Hawaii, which is what he wanted. We miss him. We love him. With sadness-

Update 2012

Just looked up the 1961 class for the first time a couple of weeks ago and hadn't really done anything more than that except look at a few pics and that scared the shit out of me because everyone looked so OLD and I thought "Hell I must look old too!" and signed off. You used to know me as Dale but I legally changed my name in 1973 to "Christopher Owens" and that's who I've been every since.

I am now retired in Walnut Creek CA about 12 miles from San Francisco and have lived in the Bay Area every since1967. Christopher Owens; 1413 Skycrest Drive #5: Walnut Creek, CA 94595.

Email is different from one on Classmates.com, which I'll get around to
changing soon. it is: mr.chris.owens@gmail.com. Please do keep me up to date on any
get together etc. and feel free to share this information with anyone
you think would be interested. Cheers, Chris

Update 9-11-10

AFTER ATTENDING WLHS I WENT TO PURDUE FOR A YEAR AND TRANSFERRED TO IU WHERE I GRADUATED FROM LAW SCHOOL IN 1966 AT 22, WHICH IS WAY TOO YOUNG. I TAUGHT AT UCLA SCHOOL OF LAW FOR A YEAR WITH STUDENTS MUCH OLDER AND MORE MATURE THAN ME, THEN A DEAD END JOB AT THE BIGGEST MOST PRESTIGIOUS LAW FIRM IN SAN FRANCISCO, PILLSBURY, MADISON & SUTRO, OFF TO EUROPE FOR NINE MONTHS IN OCTOBER 1969 AS A PSEUDO HIPPY DOING WHAT WE DID IN THE 60'S, GREAT TRIP! THAN PRACTICED POVERTY LAW IN SAN FRANCISCO FOR A YEAR, HAD MY OWN PRACTICE IN BERKELEY FOR A YEAR, THAN JOINED UP WITH THE "FREE SPEECH" ATTORNEY PETER FRANCK FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS THEN WENT BACK TO EUROPE FOR 3 MONTHS. I'VE HAD DEEP DEPRESSION MOST OF MY LIFE STRETCHING BACK INTO CHILDHOOD AND MANY YEARS WITH SHRINKS THAT HELPED A LOT OF THINGS BUT NOT MUCH FOR THE DEPRESSION. FINALLY A YEAR AFTER THE BIRTH (1987) OF MY SON, A DIAGNOSES OF CLINICAL DEPRESSION, AND THE SEARCH FOR A MEDICATION TO "CURE" IT, THE FIRST ONE PRESCRIBED IN '88 WORKED LIKE MAGIC FOR SIX MONTHS AND QUIT.  HAD A SERIES OF HIGH PRESSURE, HIGH PAYING LEGAL JOBS ENDING UP IN REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT DEVELOPING HACIENDA BUSINESS PARK IN PLEASANTON, CA, MOFFET IN SUNNYVALE, CA AND OAK CREEK IN FREMONT, CA ALONG WITH SOME HIGH RISE OFFICE BUILDING IN SAN FRANCISCO, CA WHILE SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER MAGIC MEDICATION. FINALLY, 12 YEARS LATER ANOTHER ONE WORKED LIKE MAGIC BUT IT STOPPED WORKING IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS. THERE WERE OCCASIONAL BOUTS OF "NORMALCY" FOR A FEW MONTHS WHICH I LOVED. RETIRED IN 1992 FROM WORKING FOR OTHERS AT AGE 51, WHAT TO DO?  WAS MOSTLY DEPRESSED AND STAYED THAT WAY WHILE TRYING TO BE THE BEST FATHER I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO BE SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE A ROLL MODEL TO FOLLOW BUT BRIAN TURNED OUT PRETTY GOOD I GUESS. HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN 10 YEARS NOW, HE GOT TIRED OF THE CONSTANT FIGHTING ABOUT VISITATION WITH HIS MOTHER WHO WANTED ME TO BOW OUT COMPLETELY BEFORE HE WAS EVEN BORN WHICH I REFUSED TO DO AND WE HAD A GREAT 12 YEARS WHILE HE WAS GROWING UP BUT HE CHOSE THE BLACK AND WHITE SOLUTION RATHER THAN DEAL WITH MORE "SPECIAL MASTERS" AND PSYCHOLOGISTS VISITS. I DON'T BLAME HIM A BIT, I WAS SICK OF IT TOO. REMODELED MY FIFTH OR SIXTH HOUSE, A HOME IN ORINDA, CA FOR FIVE+ YEARS FROM 1999 TO 2004, SOLD IT, BOUGHT A TWO BEDROOM ONE BATH CONDO IN ROSSMOOR (A HUGH RETIREMENT COMMUNITY IN WALNUT CREEK WITH EVERY THING UNDER THE SUN TO DO OR BELONG TO) WITH THE PROFITS THAT HAS A DEAD ON VIEW OF MT. DIABLO. DEPRESSION GOT SO DEEP AND PERMANENT I TRIED ELECTROSHOCK THERAPY, DIDN'T WORK, THAN A VAGUS NERVE STIMULATOR IMPLANT, NOTHING FOR OVER A YEAR, NOW IT MAY BE HELPING. AT ANY RATE I TURNED "NORMAL" OR "UNDEPRESSED" IN DECEMBER 2009 AND IT'S STILL GOING STRONG AND I'M LIVIN' LARGE WHILE IT DOES! BOUGHT A CONDO IN MAUI, HI, NEW TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE SE MOTORCYCLE, BOOKED RAFTING TRIPS DOWN THE TOULOMNE AND GRAND CANYON, GOING TANDEM SKYDIVING, GOT SF BALLET, SF SYMPHONY, SF OPERA, BERKELEY REP TICKETS. IT'S ALL GOOD RIGHT NOW! LESELEBONTONROULETTE!
CHEERS!
