Update 2011
After graduating from West
Lafayette High School and Purdue Krannert School, I began a career in
Human Resource Management , commonly referred to as Personnel at that
time. I married Anita Rushton just as I began my first job with RCA in
Bloomington, Indiana, in 1965.
Three years later (1968) I accepted a job with Inland Container in Rome,
Georgia. Inland Container was owned by Herman Krannert and after another
three years, an opportunity and promotion was offered with a move to
Inland Container Corporate in Indianapolis, Indiana. We lived in
Indianapolis for about ten years.
In 1976, another opportunity presented with a move to Batesville, Indiana
as the VP of Human Resources for Hillenbrand Industries, Batesville Casket
Division. Batesville was an upscale small community and a real Mayberry
reality for our children. The experience there prepared for what was to
come.
In 1982, I was recruited to Nashville, Tennessee with Kusan, a division of
Bethlehem Steel. As VP of Human Resources, we covered every aspect of
plastic manufacturing. The division was bought by the management in 1986
and subsequently sold to Alcoa in 1990. Those changes were dramatic for
our family.
After the sale of Kusan, I started an outplacement and executive coaching
business that grew to 11 offices in the Southeast. That business was sold
in 1993.
Nashville, Tennessee, not only known for country music, is also known as
“The Healthcare Mecca”. After consulting in the healthcare arena, my son
and I started our own company, TPL, working with hospitals to adjudicate
specialized patient encounters. My oldest son left the business to return
to the practice of law at a major firm here in Nashville. My middle son
works for the business and my youngest son, who also graduated from
Purdue, works as a structural civil engineer for a large firm also in
Nashville.
We have five grandchildren, Ben-age 8, Alyssa-age 7, Jacob-age 4,
Grant-age 6, and Sidney-age 4. We have recently acquired a lake home about
an hour from Nashville and look forward to spending lots of time there
with friends and family.
We do return to West Lafayette and Purdue country to visit friends and
some family remains; although, my parents have passed many years ago.
Anita’s mother presently lives here in Nashville in a retirement home.
Life has been very good here in Nashville for the past 25 years, it is
home to us. We have been blessed by our maker, our family, and our
friends!
