September 2021

I retired from Purdue in 2013. I've enjoyed travel, Purdue women club, reading and friends. My mother died in 2010 at 98 years of age. I had a stroke in December of 2019. That affected my right side losing the use of right arm, and difficult of walking. I live at home with part time help. And would love to have you visit. Give  me a call anytime. So sorry you weren't here for our 60th reunion, try to meet for the 65th reunion!!!

7/2011

How quickly in four years our lives change.  I'm still at Purdue Memorial Union in the Dining Service Department with multi-unit manager responsibilities for our eight Satellite cafe's across campus.  I do enjoy retail and the challenges of keeping them fresh with new products and merchandizing.  Retirement is about 2 years away.

My family has grown with Julie marrying three years ago and she's produced two daughters.  Jim has married as well just two years ago and still lives in San Diego.  Julie and Scott and Jennifer and Steve both live in Greensboro, NC, so that is convenient for travel.

My mother is still living but has moved to Westminster Village in the Assisted Living section of the facility.  She has a lovely apartment and still remains active with bridge and reading.

I'm looking forward to the reunion and trust most of you will make an effort to attend.  It will be fun for those who've not made it back in several years to see the changes and growth of the West Lafayette and Lafayette area.  Yes, that's what the scavenger hunt is all about!!!  See you this fall!

1/2007

Since our last reunion I sold my catering business to another caterer in town and went to work for that banquet hall for three years before realizing there wasn’t any future. I was hired and worked at Subaru Automotive making car doors for two years. Purdue then called asked if I had any interest in interviewing. I did and they offered me a job in their catering department. My primary responsibility was the University President’s events, all off premise events with the Catering Department at Purdue Memorial Union, and to run the sit down restaurant, The Sagamore Room. (You might remember The Chestnut Room? Same place.)

That position(s) lasted eight years, and when the President retired, I was moved to the “retail” operations side of the Dining Service Department. That entails overseeing operations of half of the 14 restaurants and coffee shops we have on campus. I love the job, and it certainly has more regular hours and fewer. No plans for retirement in the near future.

My four children certainly were the best part of a poor marriage. Three Granddaughters in NC bring me so much joy. Grandchildren ARE the reward of parenting.

I guess I’ve learned to laugh, love, and find humor in my life. The older I get the more opportunities there are to take myself less seriously.

Mother (93) is still living in her home of 15 years off Soldiers Home Rd.

I’m looking forward to seeing each of you at the reunion. Get going and get your updates in to Jim!!!
