Looking forward to the 50th reunion, but Good Lord, how can we be that old!  Time certainly flies when you are having fun.

There have been a few changes in the Fairman household since my last entry approx. three years ago.  The many, many years of playing basketball outdoors finally did me in and I had to have my left knee replaced on 3-11-09.  Recovery and rehab from that adventure was uneventful, however, in July '09 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Fortunately, the disease is minimal and no treatment or surgery is necessary at this point.  Doc said that something else would probably get me before the cancer would!  My one year biopsy showed no additional involvement, so now I am on the observation list (PSA every six months, repeat biopsy every three years) and have moved on with my life.

Mary finally had enough of government work and retired in May and we celebrated with three trips, including three weeks in Hawaii in September.  I could live there!

Hope to see all of you in September!

After graduation, I spent a year in California before joining the Air Force for four years.  I returned to Lafayette  and enrolled in the St E School of Nursing in 1968.  Mary and I met at St E and were married in July, 1970.  She worked while I completed school and then we both worked for St E.  Our first son (Rob) was born in Dec, 1971, our second son (Dave) was born in April, 1973 and then our daughter (Becky) blessed us in July, 1974.  I was commissioned a 1LT in the Air Force and returned to active duty in Jan, 1976.  We were stationed in California, West Lafayette to get my BSN, Arkansas, The Azores and finally, Wright-Patterson AFB, where I retired as a Major in Jan, 1992.  I then was hired to be the OR Director at a civilian hospital in Springfield, OH and worked there for 10 years before retiring again in Oct, 2001.

Since then, I have expanded my hobby in photography to a small business and do weddings, family portraits, high school seniors and some light commercial work.  I also constantly work on my golf game and "honey-do" list, and not necessarily in that order!  Two of our three children are married and we are blessed with three wonderful grandchildren (see photo above-Jessica, age 3, Neil, age 2 and Kate, age 5) and three "granddogs".  Mary works at the Wright-Patterson Med Center and retires in about two years.  After she retires, we hope to travel more, play more golf, spend more time with our families and thoroughly enjoy spoiling the grandkids.
